Before I stepped in the car with Steven, I had absolutely no experience behind the wheel. Driving seemed like a huge hurdle to overcome and was such a daunting thought but Steven couldn't have been more patient and helpful. he was a brilliant instructor and made me feel totally at ease. we had some great fun, good laughs and i constantly felt supported in the car. i'd highly recommend Magnum School of Motoring and Steven as an instructor to any new driver!

from the first telephone call Dave made me feel at ease. dave’s expertise/knowledge/skills and patience are second to none. he never once raised his voice, or chastised my errors. he instead laughed at my ‘brain fades’ and ‘blonde moments’, corrected my errors and helped me move on from them. In my opinion this was a much better way for me to learn and retain the information I was being taught.
he thoroughly explained techniques, and built my confidence week by week. even when I felt I wasn’t doing so well, hearing dave say that we were ‘right on track’ lifted my spirits and boosted my confidence.

I would absolutely recommend msm to anyone looking for thorough, knowledgeable, friendly and above all patient and confidence building driving instructors.

I recommend Magnum School of Motoring for learning to drive. Dave is an excellent driving instructor and helped me alot when doing my lessons. I passed first time with about 20 lessons so I saved a fortune.

My instructor Dave's in depth knowledge and first hand experience was a real asset. He was able to tutor to my level as I'd had previous lessons and he quickly identified the areas we needed to work on. I started out without a single shred of driving knowledge. Dave advised me on all aspects of driving from start to finish. he also advised me that because my partner had a car i should use it as much as possible to keep the cost of learning down. i took three blocks of lessons from Dave over the course of a year and passed 1st time. i'd recommend the magnum school of motoring to anyone.

I would recommend Magnum to anyone learning to drive. After just a few lessons my driving had improved unbelievably. This was down to my instructor Kenny Buchanan who was a first-class teacher. Kenny is an absolute professional and 100 per cent committed to getting his students successfully through their test. He makes you feel like it’s a team-effort, which inspires you to give it your full commitment too. He’s serious about the task but light-hearted and easy-going at the same time which makes lessons a lot more pleasant. He really helps build your confidence and actually teaches you to enjoy driving – not fear it. He also gives really personalised tuition and is exceptionally good at working out a routine that suits you as a driver. Anyone would be lucky to have him as an instructor.

I've just passed my driving test and have no hesitation about recommending my instructor, Kenny Buchanan of Magnum School of Motoring. After sitting and failing my test a couple of times over the years, Kenny was my fourth instructor and to be honest I'd all but given up by then. What a difference! From the first lesson he put me completely at my ease, very important for me as my nerves were holding me back. I would definitely recommend him if you're an anxious learner: he has a great way of making you feel relaxed when you're driving - I actually enjoyed the lessons, which I'd never done before. He strikes the right balance of teaching you to drive properly without nagging or making you feel stupid if you make a mistake. He's also a really nice, friendly, funny guy. I'm now doing the Pass Plus course with him, which says it all. Definitely 5 out of 5.

Unlike most 'Professional' driving tutors, magnum only use ex traffic police. This means not only are you being thoroughly trained but also getting a far more in-depth level of knowledge. Also magnum is one of the cheapest options for learning to drive in Edinburgh,book yourself in before prices inevitably rise for this exceptional training.
